This exhibition presents student work developed through Alpinestudio, a cross-listed collaboration between the University of Innsbruck and the University of Texas at Arlington. Focused on Innsbruck’s historic Marktplatz, the projects explore resilient [urban] in[ter]ventions for a site shaped by the flows of people, water, and climate.
In partnership with the City of Innsbruck’s Planning Department, students engaged with local knowledge, site observations, and transdisciplinary dialogue to reimagine the role of Marktplatz as a connective public space along the Inn River. The proposals integrate social and ecological systems, addressing urban heat, flooding, and civic life through spatial strategies that adapt to future climate conditions.
Architecture is approached as a component of the urban ecosystem, mediating between natural dynamics and cultural practices. The exhibited work includes drawings, models, diagrams, and speculative design proposals that position Marktplatz not only as a marketplace, but as a resilient civic landscape grounded in collaboration and care.
